Rio Grande do Sul conclui plantio de trigo, diz Emater-RS; alerta para efeitos da chuva

Rio Grande do Sul concludes wheat planting, says Emater-RS; warning for effects of rain

Wheat producers in Rio Grande do Sul concluded planting this Thursday, 08/18, with an advance of 1 percentage point in the week, after delays in relation to previous years, showed data from the technical assistance and rural extension company Emater- LOL.

According to the report, in general, the cereal crops present a satisfactory development, with uniform growth and adequate productive potential.

However, Emater warned that there were greater difficulties in the southernmost regions of the state, where excessive rainfall during the winter prevented sowing from being completed.

“The rain may cause unevenness in the establishment of crops, in addition to negatively affecting the productive potential”, added the agency linked to the state government on the southern region.

Weather forecasts released this week indicate that a cold front has spread across the south of the country, generated rain and should make room for frost between Friday and Saturday, with a risk to areas of wheat crops under development in Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul.

If confirmed, the impact of excessive cold for the gaucho cereal will depend on the places where the phenomenon will occur, considering that in the northwest of the state there are crops susceptible to losses.

Emater also said that the producers are in the preparation phase of areas and some have already started planting corn 2022/23, however, the entity is still raising cultivation intentions.

No numbers of sown regions have been released so far.
