The new crop of Pronampe disbursed by the federal government should reach R$ 15 billion reais soon, said this Wednesday the executive president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Daniella Marques.
Created during the pandemic to help small businesses that ran out of working capital, the National Support Program for Micro and Small Businesses had a new round launched on June 25, with resources channeled through Caixa Econômica and the Banco do Brasil.
“Caixa alone has already disbursed R$ 3.5 billion reais”, said Marques during a lecture at an XP event. “In all, the program should reach 15 billion reais in the coming weeks.”
Marques, who took charge of Caixa in July after his predecessor, Pedro Guimarães, left office over allegations of sexual harassment against female employees, also said plans to go public at state-owned bank units such as Caixa Cartão and Caixa Asset, are frozen.
“The market window is closed, the market has deteriorated a lot,” she told reporters after the talk.
The executive also stated that she is leading changes in the bank's governance to make it difficult to use the institution for political motivations.
When asked if she thinks Caixa is protected against the possible use of public banks as instruments to accelerate economic activity, a subject that has been present among candidates in this year's presidential elections.
“We have to decentralize the power of the bank president,” she replied.
