Masterboi opens its 1st meatpacking plant in the Northeast with an investment of R$ 120 million

Masterboi inaugurated on Monday the 15/08th, its first refrigerator in the Northeast of the country.

The unit is installed in Canhotinho-PE, about 200 kilometers from Recife, headquarters of the company founded 22 years ago. With an investment of R$ 120 million, the plant should be the largest in the region and the only one to operate with the Federal Inspection Service, with access to international markets.

According to a statement from the company, the slaughterhouse has the capacity to slaughter 700 heads of cattle per day, in addition to sheep, goats and pigs.

The intention is to reach 1,400 animals per day, the plant will process 300 tons of meat daily.

Masterboi expects the unit to generate around 800 direct jobs and 3,500 indirect jobs.

The company has two industrial units in the North Region, one in Nova Olinda-TO, and another in São Geraldo do Araguaia-PA.

In April, the General Administration of Customs of China suspended beef imports from the Masterboi unit in São Geraldo do Araguaia-PA, without indicating when business could resume or the reason for the decision.
